The long, hot summer…Dugo, toplo ljeto…

The long, warm and sometimes very rainy summer is slowly coming to an close. Besides rest and gathering  the required clean air, which will clean the spirit, mind and body, this summer we also used to search for a new potential scenarios for development of ACG’s. Because we trust in this project and the benefits that it brings to all of us, we need to find the focus and the people to experience and be inspired by garden.

The garden is still in its infancy and its plants we have planted in private and public spaces from Zagreb to Brac (Island in Croatia). So now we primarily seek to find one, unique space where we could present garden and all of its inhabitants. My wish is that that could be in Zagreb. Since in this very city, in the heart of the Croatia, it originally came to life, we believe that we have to give him a chance and see who will all gather in the subsequent days, weeks and months of development.

Exactly in Zagreb there is NGO „Herbal- medicinal plant“, run by prof. Željko Sobotka. Herbal- medicinal plant is one of the associations that we have invited to be the first “official” friend – a partner of this hole “project”. Prof. Sobotka is the Alpha and Omega in the world of plants and his knowledge and experience is over 40 years. He is helping to all interested citizens to get to know closer to the healing properties of plants and their valuable ingredients. Prof. Sobotka and his team will be one of our strongest links because they will offer to you, who are also embarking on this journey with us, answers to all questions related to degenerative conditions of the body and the way in which it can be cured.

Hugs,

Marina

Dugo, toplo i ponekad jako kišovito ljeto polako dolazi prema svome kraju. Osim odmora i prikupljanja potrebnog čistog zraka kojim ćemo očistiti duh um i tijelo, ljeto smo iskoristili i za istraživanje i traženje novog mogućeg razvoja ACG-a.

Puse

Anticancer garden first public presentation – HACKATON, Zagreb, Croatia 21/5-22/5/2014Prvo javno predstavljanje Anti-kancerogenog vrta – HACKATON, Zagreb, Hrvatska 21/5-22/5/2014

Hackaton, Zagreb

Anticancer garden had its first public presentation on Hackatone (http://radiona.org/hackathon_subtle_tech), which is a festival that promotes new media and intermedia discipline with crossings from technology, art and biology.

In this two days we experienced a chance to present the garden and to think how and in which direction we should further prepare our project.

We see our first chance in community gardens in Zagreb that our Mayor is giving to people who would love to own a garden, but cannot because either they don’t receive the money or simply don’t hold any place to behave it. That’s why we decided that this should be our next step. So we wrote a letter to our Mayor in which we kindly ask about getting a city parcel that we would use for anticancer garden.

In our letter, we also mentioned that our garden would be open for all and that it would serve the community as public good.
Yesterday we sent it… Keep your fingers crossed :)

Miracle tree (Moringa Oleifera)Čudesno drvo (Moringa Oleifera)

moringa11

In today’s blog, I will try to present you Moringa Oleifera tree and its particular qualities and nutritional attributes that can aid with cancer healing.

Of course, it’s very important to emphasize that all of the plants that we’ll observe are also being used with the handling of other diseases, not just cancer. Their essence is best considered in detoxification that takes up at all levels of body, psyche and heart.

Moringa tree (Miracle tree)

Moringa tree is surely at the very top of the ladder with its nutritional indegridiens.
There are 14 plants from the Moringa family and we’ll talk and describe mostly about the Moringa Oleifera which is also known as the “Miracle tree“. Miracle tree is mostly found in South and Middle America, Mexico, Malesia, India, Shri Lanka and Africa.

Why the name Miracle tree? Because, all of the tree components can be used either like food or like medicament. So you can use bark, seeds or leaves. For food we mostly use leaves and seeds are usually being fried or prepared. Seeds are very rich in vitamin C and the pulverization of the dried seed is applied for water cleansing.
The tree can get up to 10 meters and usually it develops in wet and in the tropics. Because of that, the temperature should never be below 10 degrees in winter and below 20 to 30 degrees in summertime.
Studies have shown that Moringa cures more than 300 diseases and it holds more than 90 nutritional components and 45 antioxidants. The active component in Moringa is Pterigospermin which causes its antibacterial activity.

The first plants I have planted….

The feeling when you see the first shoot from what was yesterday, only a seed is beautiful and very exciting. Sprout represents new life and so it brings out hope that someday we’ll succeed to help those who suffer from cancer or other serious illness.

From the day when we planted our first plants it has passed more than 20 days and this pictures are one of the many that we took.

I truly hope that in the next days, moths and years you’ll have the opportunity to participate more in the growth of your and our anticancer garden…

To you, my friendZa tebe

This is the first entry in my blog. I haven’t done this before, so I  beg your forgiveness if my words and sentences will seem a little confusing and jumbled. If you have read the project description, then you probably already know that this beautiful initiative was started by Beatriz Da Costa (June 11, 1974 – December 27, 2012) who was an interdisciplinary artist.

Her work dealt with contemporary art, scientific discipline, engineering, and government. She was the artist whose projects got the form of public interventions and workshops, conceptual tool building, and critical writing. She and her collaborators launched the Anticancer Survival Kit, which was the part of her Creative Capital-supported project, The Cost of Life. Beatriz who was known as “Shani” to friends and family, died in the on Thursday December 27, 2012.

Dear Beatriz your idea will always be carved in every seed we plant, and this is our Thank You. Also, with our task and our anticancer gardens, we desire to make homage to all beautiful men, woman and children who still fight or who died fighting cancer.

Cancer is a state in which our physical structure, mind and spirit challenge us to prove how strong we really are. Anticancer garden is also about our impressions and thoughts that express our aspirations towards finding balance in communication with everything that surrounds us.

The thing is we need to find a new way to communicate with plants and herbs. To see them and feel them like old shamans used to do. Our inspiration is the first sprouts that occur from each source. We’d like to share our enthusiasm with you, then you could as well start one day your own magical herbal garden.
